I applied on linkedin and the recruiter hit me up in two days. My technical round was 5 days after that. They asked a lot about my understanding of technology and my Masters' projects. Then I was invited for an onsite which was 2 weeks later. I was supposed to have 4 rounds but one interviewer couldn't make it so I only had 3 rounds. Each round was about 45-50 mins. There were 2 technical rounds covering concepts, designing, scaling, troubleshooting, and SQL. There was also a behavioral round focusing on my understanding of the industry and its relation to the job. I heard back about the results a week later.

First, a Kargo recruiter reached out after reviewing my resume for a Junior Developer/QA Engineer role. The initial call with the recruiter went smoothly. He explained they wanted to hire someone with a development background, train them in QA for a few months, and then transition them to a full-time developer role. Next, I had a second phone interview with the QA manager, which also went well. Following that, I sent thank you notes and got an email from the recruiter saying the team wanted to schedule a 3-4 hour in-person interview. I asked the recruiter directly if there would be any technical questions, and they said no. I attended the interview on time, only to find it included technical QA questions, unit test questions, and API questions. I think it went okay, but I stumbled on some technical questions because the recruiter hadn't prepared me for what to expect. After sending thank you notes, I got an email rejecting my application, citing a need for 'more hands-on developer experience.' It's baffling because my computer science bachelor's degree and over four years of development experience, including work on a fitness startup featured in Business Insider, apparently don't count as 'experience.' I'm confused why they'd contact me initially only to decide this after the interviews.

The interview process began with a recruiter phone screen where the recruiter's behavior was quite strange. The main goal of the call seemed to be assessing my fit for the role. I felt the call went well, as I met all the technical stack and role requirements. However, I was not advanced to the next stage. No feedback was provided regarding my fit for the role, nor any further communication from the hiring team. I invested significant time in preparing for this interview, so it felt like a complete waste to not receive any explanation for why I wasn't selected to continue. I would not suggest working here or interviewing with them.
