Software Engineer
We kicked things off with some emails. They hit me with a few technical questions, asking about my prior experience with certain tools and to detail my background. They also wanted to know about my salary expectations and if I'd need them to sponsor a work visa since it's an international role. Since it's an international position, they also inquired about my English proficiency.

Software Engineer
The interview started with an online assessment that included Core Java questions (advanced level) for 15 minutes and a General Ability section for 46 minutes. A calculator, pen, and paper were allowed. This was followed by a one-hour interview with the hiring manager. The final round was a technical interview with the hiring manager and two team members.

- Regarding Object-Oriented Principles (OOP), what distinguishes overloading from overriding?
- Could you describe the function of the 'static' keyword when applied to methods and variables in Java?

A third-party recruiter reached out. I had an online test covering programmer aptitude (basically IQ) and C++ skills. Then, a phone screen with the hiring manager. Finally, an in-person stage with two one-hour panel interviews and an hour-long C++ coding evaluation where I had to write a small program in a Linux terminal.
- Can you explain C++11 "smart" pointers?
- What is the difference between pointers and references?
