Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kaplan.
Communications
The HR rep in Chicago was late for the first phone interview and seemed unfocused. The hiring manager in Florida was unprofessional and asked too many personal questions during the next phone interview, which seemed to negatively influence my candidacy because it didn't align with his personal interests (like looking for a golf buddy). This made the interview uncomfortable; some individuals should not be permitted to conduct interviews. The HR rep emailed me a month later stating they were not proceeding with my application and promised a call the next day to discuss, but never called. Kaplan and its industry have a poor reputation, so I suppose this interview behavior is typical.

Marketing
The interview process was pretty easy, starting with a phone interview and then an in-person interview. It was mostly behavioral questions. They are looking for a semester intern and a summer intern. They want someone responsible, who can multi-task, and is diligent. If you show them these qualities and a passion for marketing, you'll likely get the job. It's not a difficult interview process at all.

Brand Ambassador
I was initially contacted by a recruiter via email and had a quick phone call. They asked me some basic questions, like if I was okay with virtual communication with my manager. After that, I was invited to do a video interview with the manager, where I had to present an idea for marketing Kaplan's products on campus.
- Why are you interested in the Student Brand Ambassador role?
- Could you tell me about the clubs you're involved in?
