First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kaltura.
Software Engineer
I was contacted by upper management on LinkedIn and then invited to interview with hiring managers. I let them know I was currently working, on call, and had little sleep, so I might have to miss interviews. They gave me a take-home test estimated to take 2 hours, but it actually took about 6 hours due to issues like downloading and installing an image to Amazon's s3, missing RPMs, bad dependencies, and MySQL installation problems. I mentioned I didn't have much time and suggested moving the test to the next weekend, but they said I wasn't fit for the role because I couldn't finish the unfair test in the limited time. Another department wanted to interview me, but I had to miss it due to a critical outage at my job. I apologized immediately, but after ten days with no response, I followed up. The manager then responded negatively, criticizing my 10-day reply time, but offered me another chance due to my unique skills. I sent proof that I had replied the same day I missed the interview, and they then stated I was no longer qualified. This whole experience shows how inconsiderate they are of my time, mirroring comments on Glassdoor about Kaltura not respecting employees. It also suggests management doesn't consider facts and hires 'yes men,' which I am not, so I informed the original contact I was no longer interested.
- What makes you want to work at Kaltura?
Software Engineer
So first, you'll chat with a recruiter to make sure we're on the same page about what the job is and if you're a good fit. If that goes well, then comes the technical part, which could be coding, case studies, or questions about how you'd handle certain situations, depending on the exact role. After that, you'll likely talk to the hiring manager and maybe some other folks on the team to see how you work with others, solve problems, and if you'd fit in with the company culture.
- How would you sort an array of numbers?
Software Engineer
I was first invited to their offices for an interview with the group leader, where I was asked general questions about my past projects. Then, I was invited again for another interview with their team leader, where general programming questions were asked to test your thinking. I didn't pass that stage.
- Can you discuss your previous projects?
- I was asked general programming questions that included usage of hash tables and arrays.
