Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kaiser Associates.
Associate Consultant
First round was a phone interview, split into 30 minutes of behavioral questions and 30 minutes for a mini case. The first round also included a slide building exercise. The final round, a super day, consisted of two behavioral interviews and two case interviews.
- Can you walk me through a market sizing analysis?
- What are your thoughts on potential M&A opportunities?
- How would you approach a profitability analysis?
Associate Consultant
This was my first case interview experience, and I feel like I didn’t do great, which is fine, I get why I wasn't hired. The initial round, which included behavioral questions and a mini case, was done over the phone. I found this really intimidating for my first case interview. Trying to fit both behavioral questions and a case into a single 60-minute interview meant there wasn't really time for me to ask my own questions. I emailed my questions to the interviewer, and they mentioned I'd likely hear from HR within a week. However, I was rejected the very next day. The really frustrating part is that Kaiser apparently has a policy against providing interview feedback, which is a shame because they seem to hire a lot of young professionals who would really benefit from that kind of input.
- Tell me about a project you’ve finished that you feel good about.
- For the case question about a company acquiring a food delivery business, estimate the unique customer count in Washington, DC.
- Can you present your resume to me?
Strategy Consultant
This was a lengthy interview process with multiple rounds of interviews. They included both case and behavioral interviews, plus a skills assessment. The case parts were mostly led by the interviewer and focused on market sizing and profit-loss calculations. The whole thing took about 8 hours and happened across four rounds, mostly during work hours.
- Can you tell me about a time you were assigned a task that was challenging to finish?
