It was a quick process with three rounds happening all in one day on a Sunday. I had two technical rounds and one managerial round. I felt I did well in all of them but didn't get any feedback. The first technical round focused on Python, SQL, and time complexity. The second technical round dove deep into Spark, specifically PySpark. The managerial round was a mix of technical and behavioral questions.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you describe how you would optimize Spark jobs?
  • Could you explain the architecture of Spark?
  • What is bucketing and how is it used?

Technical Coding

Initially, I was expecting to talk with a Team Lead, but it ended up being some junior data engineers instead. The whole session felt pretty disorganized. One of them just jumped in asking questions without even introducing himself. It ran over time too, and I had to prompt them to figure out when to reschedule. We talked about Spark Streaming, fault tolerance, and dealing with late data in Kafka.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What are your thoughts on Spark Streaming?
  • Can you elaborate on fault tolerance?
  • Describe how to manage late-arriving data in Kafka.
