I had an initial HR/recruiter screening that went well. After that, I was given a take-home assessment. While I'm not a big fan of unpaid projects, I understand they can be part of the process. I did the assessment and was later rejected, which is fine because their feedback was fair. My issue is that I never got to meet the hiring team to discuss the role's needs or talk about the work I did on the project. These kinds of assessments should be for final candidates, not early on. It feels exploitative to have candidates spend hours on ideas before meeting the hiring team.

I went through two interviews first, then they gave me a project where I had to create sample social media posts and present some ideas and strategies. After that, I had a one-hour round with four different people, with each interview lasting 15 minutes. I didn't hear back after that. Then, about a month later, they contacted me again, but I politely declined the offer.
