Software Engineer
There were 2 interview rounds. The first was on-site with managers and a senior dev, covering past experience and company/role info with some technical questions. The second was online with a team leader, focusing on technical questions about microservices and architecture. Then an offer came.
- Could you explain what a bounded context means within a microservice architecture?
Software Developer
It was a video call with 2 seniors from the team. Red flags appeared immediately when they ignored my greeting and chatted amongst themselves for 2 minutes. Then came a formal Q&A about my experience, with them looking bored. This suggests issues with the company, a shame they send inexperienced people to the first stage. This is a red flag regardless of benefits or salary. After 50 minutes, I asked for a short break to ask my own questions about the company. The interviewer seemed surprised and wanted to continue with more questions. I explained my 3 brief questions would help me understand if the company is a good fit and save everyone time. My main question was about the remote working policy, which was met with 'hmms' and 'that's not our department.' I asked about existing staff in my situation and the policy for them, and the response was 'That's a valued employee.' Overall, a poor interview. When I said the position wasn't for me and wished them luck, they seemed shocked and wanted me to continue the questions to see if I qualified for a second stage.
- Tell me about your experience with different Databases.
- What is your skill level in mentoring Junior members of staff?
- Can you provide an instance where you helped a new team member acclimate to the work environment?
Software Developer
The entire interview process consisted of one 30-minute interview with two interviewers. It was initially planned as an on-campus interview but ended up being virtual because of the coronavirus. I didn't hear back from them at all, not even after I tried contacting them a month later.
- Could you please introduce yourself?
