First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jones Day.
Project Manager
The interview process involved three rounds. First, I spoke with the hiring manager. Then, there were four separate interviews with people from the department. Finally, I met with HR and the department director.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated with challenging personalities?
- Can you provide examples of projects you have contributed to?
Project Assistant
The interview process involved meeting with the manager of project assistants/paralegals, a current project assistant, a staff attorney, and the HR manager. While everyone was very nice, the interview spanned two days and about 4.5 hours in total. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them after the interviews. They had requested my availability for the following week to meet with attorneys, but I never received a response. I understand not getting the job, but it felt unprofessional to keep me in the process for three weeks and then not follow up at all, whether it was to offer employment or not. Fortunately, I was hired by another firm the next week.
- Can you describe how detail-oriented you are?
- How do you handle working under pressure when trying to meet deadlines?
- Could you provide an example of a time you worked under pressure to meet a deadline?
Project Assistant
I applied online, then got a call a few weeks later for a quick phone chat. After that, I went in person. I met the hiring manager and then three attorneys in the department I was interested in (one used to be a Project Assistant). Then, an HR person talked about salary and benefits. They offered me the job about a month later, but I took another offer. Jones Day really impressed me though.
- Can you describe your approach to managing multiple deadlines and your time management skills?
- How effectively do you work with individuals who have diverse personalities?
