Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jones Day.
Legal Trainee
Had a chill chat with 2 partners about what makes me tick and my career goals. They wanted to know stuff like my reasons for studying law, my desire to work in London, which legal fields I'm most drawn to and why, and how my background fits the role.
- What prompted your decision to pursue legal studies?
Law Clerk
The interview process was pretty difficult and definitely not friendly, more like argumentative. They'll try to catch you off guard to see how you respond. It was very professional though and rewarding if you can handle it. They also ask you basic questions like why Jones Day, why you, and why you want to be involved in Commercial law. They seemed to be looking for well-rounded people who had a commercial/argumentative/competitive streak.
- Can you tell me why you want to work at Jones Day?
Legal Secretary
They basically bullied me into an interview after telling me they wanted to hire someone ASAP, and then gave me no feedback at all, not even to the recruiter. They ignored all my communication too. I'm actually glad it didn't work out after that whole experience.
- Are you willing to work outside of contracted hours frequently?
