Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jones Day.
Associate
This was a long interview, 2.5 hours, but it was a good experience and I got to see the culture. The dress code was casual. They got back to me with an offer quickly. I only had a week to accept though, which is on the shorter side. I'm trying to figure out if the firm's reputation is as good as they say.
- What are your reasons for pursuing a career in big law and specifically in this city?
Summer Associate
Right from the start, the place felt really welcoming and professional. Everyone was nice and paid attention to me, which helped me relax. A big thing they talked about was how they work together, showing that they really care about teamwork and helping each other out, which is important to me. They also told me about some really interesting cases they're working on, which got me even more excited about the type of law they do.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Associate
I went through a few rounds of interviews with different people at the firm, including a Partner, a US-based Partner, the Hiring Partner, and the Managing Partner. It was all very well put together. The interviews focused on my strengths, my fit for the role, and my motivations. We also talked about work ethic and internal opportunities. Just a heads-up, there aren't many chances to work from home.
