Team Lead
This interview process is pretty straightforward and has two main parts. The first part is a 20-30 minute chat to get a feel for your personality, kind of like a typical phone screening. They went through my resume step-by-step, asking me to expand on certain things. If they like you, they'll invite you back for a second round. In the second part, a current associate or manager will take you out for coffee or lunch for about 30 minutes. This is another chance to review your resume and see if you're a good fit. Since this is a sales job where you pitch products at different locations, this chat also serves as a 'beer test' to see if they'd enjoy hanging out with you. They want to know you're personable and approachable, so be outgoing! They'll also go over salary details and more about the company and the role. After the coffee/lunch chat, you'll head to one of the company's sales spots, like a Walmart in this case. There, you'll set up a product display and talk to shoppers. You'll also discuss the job and office culture more, while observing how current employees pitch to customers. Afterwards, they said they'd be in touch within a week with feedback.
- Tell me about the kind of leader you are.
- Could you elaborate on a specific point from your resume?
- What has captured your interest regarding this role or our company?
Team Lead
I applied online and then they emailed me a few days later to call. I called and spoke with someone. They asked about my experience training others and why I left my previous job. I was then invited for an in-person interview. I met with Andy, who I later learned was a consultant. He asked a lot about my classes, volunteer work, and management skills. He really went into detail about the job, including salary, daily tasks, company history, growth, advancement, and benefits. The second interview was a lunch meeting with another team lead, where I received another brochure. Afterwards, we visited a Best Buy to see the role in action. I received a job offer the day after.
- What would someone who dislikes you the most say about you?
Team Lead
There's no real hiring process. They just call you to meet with one of their 'heads,' and they double-book slots. So if you have a 12pm meeting, there's another person with that exact same time. They'll ask you some basic questions like: name three weaknesses, how you handle team conflicts, and projects you've worked on with teams.
- The entire thing was stupid.
