Account Manager
Applied online and got contacted to set up an interview in less than 24 hours. They didn't really ask about my background or what I'm looking for, just wanted to get me in the door, which was a bit suspicious. When I got to the interview, I found out it wasn't for the position described in the job posting. You apparently have to 'work your way up' to that. Everyone starts out as a 'brand ambassador,' which means setting up a table in Walmart and trying to sell Direct TV. It's not exactly door-to-door sales, but it's pretty close. This position isn't what I was looking for.
- What makes you want to pursue a career in sales?
Account Manager
It was a detailed interview where they explained all the company aspects and answered all my questions. It was both fun and challenging. I met another employee to understand their work experience and then they showed me around the store to get a sense of the daily tasks. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
- In what ways has your prior management experience contributed to achieving your goals and performance metrics?
Account Manager
I had a phone call and then two in person interviews before I got the job offer. It was a pretty easy process. The first interview they just asked more about me and my leadership skills as well as further explaining the position. The second interview was relaxed and easy going. I left the office with an employee and went for coffee so she could get to know me more. After talking and drinking coffee, we went to an actual retail location where she role played what the job exactly was.
- Can you tell me about your leadership experience?
