First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Johnson Matthey.
Process Engineer
The interview included general personal questions and some problem-solving steps. It's not something you necessarily need to prepare for; they're just evaluating how you approach solving problems. Experience with HAZOPs, LOPA, and NEBOSH is a plus, but if you're unfamiliar, it's worth researching these processes to understand their purpose and industry application.
- Estimate the number of ping pong balls required to fill this room.
Process Engineer
The interview process was great. The technical interviewers were easy-going and friendly, making it an enjoyable experience. However, after I was offered the position, issues arose during salary negotiations. The offered salary was significantly lower than my current compensation at a competitor for the same role, with no flexibility for a better offer. I felt HR was strictly adhering to internal metrics and had no room to improve the offer. It would have been helpful if HR had communicated their maximum budget upfront before the interview.

Process Engineer
The interview process has two rounds. First, you'll talk to HR about general stuff to see if you fit in. Then, you'll meet the line manager who will check if you're professional, a good team fit, and can do the job. It's a way to check if you're qualified and a good match.
