First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at John Holland.
Commercial Manager
So, there were two rounds to this interview. First, I spoke with the Senior Commercial Manager, and that was mostly about my experience in managing and training people, and also if I knew my stuff. I didn't get past that part, so I didn't get to the second interview with the Head of Commercial.
- Tell me about your experience in construction.
Data Analyst
We started with a phone interview to screen candidates, talk about the job, and check citizenship and driver's license. We also discussed where the job is and when you're available. Then there was a Technical Proficiency Test where you had to make a cool report from some data. Finally, a 1-on-1 with the hiring manager, mixing technical and behavioral stuff related to the job.
- Tell me about how you manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
Cost Planner
It was a multistage interview. First, I spoke with an internal recruiter, which was pretty casual and they gave me an overview of the role. Then, I talked to the Direct Report, which was more specific to the role and also checked my personality. This one was also quite casual. Finally, there was a formal interview, and then they checked references and did a background check.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What relevant experiences do you have?
Graduate Engineer
I applied online and all the interviews happened on Microsoft Teams. The first step was a group interview where we were split into groups and had to come up with solutions to a problem. Three engineers and an HR manager watched us, and we got to ask them questions at the end. After that, I had individual interviews with an HR manager and an engineer. They were both really nice and the interviews felt pretty relaxed.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to overcome a challenge?
- Tell me about a time you set a project goal and how you accomplished it.
