I had a 20-30 minute phone interview with the recruiter where they asked me about my work history. Then, I had a one-on-one interview to talk about the position and what they expected. It was a relaxed, conversational interview. After that, I was asked back for a second interview that went over the compensation, since it's a full commission job.

Behavioral Other

I spoke with three different people. The first person explained the responsibilities of the role, which apparently involves using your personal connections to find clients. They also mentioned that within two weeks of starting, I'd be expected to sell financial products to my friends and family. I questioned the logic of this, asking why people I know would purchase from me given my very limited experience, and they didn't offer a strong response.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • There were no difficult questions asked.
  • I took a behavioral computer test, similar to what you might encounter for a retail position.

Behavioral Technical Case

So, I interviewed with John Hancock. It's this big insurance company in Boston, and they were actually celebrating their 150th anniversary back in 2012. They got bought by a Canadian company called Manulife in 2004. Besides insurance, they also do investment stuff like variable, universal, and term life insurance, and retirement products such as annuities, mutual funds, and long-term care insurance. The interview process involved a recruiter call, a phone screen, a technical screen, and then an onsite interview.
