Two people from the finance department came to campus to interview me. They asked me to go through my resume and talk about the major points. Since I was studying for CFA level 1 at the time, they asked a lot about that. Both interviewers were very nice and welcoming. I hadn't prepared enough questions because I thought I'd be speaking with an HR representative. If I had known I'd be speaking with people from the department, I would have asked about the DOL ruling or market volatility. About three weeks after the interview, I got a brief email saying I wouldn't be moving on to a second interview. It was a positive experience overall; I learned the importance of asking questions at the end and that active asset management might not be for me.

The interview process starts with an HR phone screening and then multiple on-site interviews. This whole process can stretch out for weeks. It's important to stay in touch, especially if you're interviewing with other companies or waiting on other offers. In one instance, HR was late confirming a screening they set up. When I called to confirm, they said they'd already hired someone, even though I never got to interview. In another case, after an interview, they said I'd be brought in for another round. When I followed up (because I had other offers), they told me they'd already hired someone and just hadn't notified me. So, make sure to keep in touch so you don't miss out on another opportunity, as they tend to be bad at communicating with candidates.
