First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JOEY Restaurants.
Manager
The interview process was smooth and very professional, right from the initial screening all the way to the end. Everything was done online but felt very engaging and to the point. The managers I spoke with discussed my past experiences and future aspirations in the industry, and also shared some of their own experiences.
- What career development areas do you plan to focus on?
Restaurant Manager
This was the worst interview experience. The manager was really intense and rude, totally dismissed my answers, and expected me to guess what they were thinking. There was also no clarity about the job itself. I applied for the open Restaurant Manager position, but during the interview, they told me they already had enough managers and that I'd have to start from the very bottom doing DoorDash. There was no guarantee of training, a timeline for promotion, or even getting the position I applied for. It was a complete waste of my time. My overall feeling about the interview was not good.
- What are the top 5 qualities you look for when hiring someone?
- Are you prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals?
Management
The interview process was unexpectedly long and very by-the-book, with several rounds asking pretty much the same situational questions. It felt stiff and impersonal instead of like a real conversation. After going through six interviews, the result was sent through an automated email, with no feedback or follow-up even though I put in a lot of effort. This really didn't match the company's public statements about respecting people and having a people-first culture. On top of that, some of the talks with leadership made me question their management style and emotional intelligence.
- What are your weaknesses or areas where you might not succeed?
- What factors do you think could lead to your failure?
