First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Joby Aviation.
Mechanical Design Engineer
The interview process included a phone screen, two technical phone interviews, a test, and a final interview. The whole thing took about a week and felt pretty long and thorough. They got back to me quickly with the decision though.
- Could you introduce yourself and explain your qualifications for this role?
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Had 3 technical rounds with some ME Design engineers. Expect questions about my portfolio, some brain teasers, and a walk-through of my design process. They asked stuff about manufacturing like how to fasten things or make a hole, and also about material choice, not so much basic beam stuff. For sure get ready for a portfolio design review.
- Can you walk me through a design you're especially proud of?
Mechanical Design Engineer
The interview process involved several rounds, but communication from the recruiters and hiring managers was not great, and the whole thing was pretty disorganized. The hiring process dragged on for about six months. I had to constantly nudge the recruiter to keep things moving, even though they seemed really interested in my application.
- What's your approach to designing a bracket for mounting equipment onto a curved composite structure?
