recruiter reached out about a role. 1st phone screen was good, then moved on to an engineer interview. they asked questions not related to the job description, I did my best and got rejected. later saw on the career site that the questions matched a different role on the same team, which didn't fit my background, but I met all the qualifications for the original role I was contacted for.

The interview process had 4 stages. I met with the recruiter, some future coworkers, my direct manager, and a senior leader. It was a quick process and the recruiter kept me updated. You should know your resume inside and out and be ready for technical questions related to the job description. I got an offer but turned it down for personal reasons. The team was great to talk to and helpful.

There were significant delays, sometimes weeks, with no communication from recruiters between interviews. A strong emphasis was placed on expressing a desire to work at Joby, and answers that didn't convey extreme enthusiasm for the company were often met with rephrased versions of the same question. Be prepared for a surprisingly low offer or a rejection if your salary expectations are too high.
