Software Engineering Manager
Got a linkedin message, had an explore call with TA. Then TA scheduled an interview with an engineering director, but he kept postponing it for 2 weeks. The interview went well, the interviewer seemed happy. They didn't get back for another week. Follow-up with TA revealed they're not proceeding because they already have a finalist. It's strange to have a finalist before finishing interviews for everyone in the pipeline.

- Technical questions about event sourcing.
Engineering Manager
Watch out for them asking you to do free work and recording interviews. You'll get past the initial stages easily because they don't care about them. What they really want is for you to do a 'WORKSHOP', which is basically designing their company's software architecture. They seem stuck with their current architecture and are looking for ideas to fix it. So, they make candidates spend a week on a take-home assignment to architect their system and then present it in a 90-minute call. During the call, one of them will start recording without asking for permission or informing you. They just take advantage of their position. You'll feel hesitant to object after spending a week on the assignment and not wanting to start off on the wrong foot. I was in a call with 2 VPs and the CTO when this unprofessional behavior occurred. You'll find other reviews mentioning this recording. When I asked about it early on, the recruiter acted clueless. After the interview, when I questioned why I wasn't told, he said it's standard procedure (recording interviews!!). This is a clear GDPR violation, and I've filed a formal complaint. Don't waste your time here.
- Can you design a general architecture for a job application workflow that needs to adapt to different companies and job requirements?
Engineering Manager
The process had 5 stages: a talent interview, then a first global interview, followed by a technical interview for the role. After that, there was a conversation with the CTO, and finally a technical workshop. The interviews felt more like informal chats than strict Q&A sessions. The workshop was pretty interesting and definitely a challenge.
