Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Job Duck.
Executive Assistant
The interviewer asked questions very respectfully, mainly about the candidate's capabilities for the role. The interviewer conducted the conversation in a completely friendly and respectful manner. This stage evaluates communication skills, professional experience, and cultural fit with the company. It's important to ensure your internet connection, equipment, and environment are ready for the interview.
- What made you decide to apply for this position?
Executive Assistant
Sorry for my Portuguese, I'm a foreigner. The interview was pretty basic with few specific questions. The interview was recorded. The job is remote, and the company is US-based, so compensation is in USD. They pay very little, though; even converted to BRL, it's only about 4.5k, which is still very low for the workload. I applied for the Client Happiness Coordinator role, but they thought my profile was a better fit for the Executive Assistant position, so they called me for an interview. The Exec Asst. role was for a law firm, a sector I had no experience in. Everything on my CV pointed towards Client Happiness Coordinator expertise. Anyway, I did the interview and they sent my profile to their client, who clearly rejected it. So, everything was quite strange. But the job is legitimate.
- Tell me about your professional experiences.
- Tell me about a difficult situation at work that you resolved.
- Tell me about your greatest achievement and why you were proud of it.
Executive Assistant
I applied for this role, and had to complete some forms, attach my CV, and write a 300-500 word essay. It seemed like everything was going well. Then they contacted me and said they had an interview slot available that very same day, which felt a bit rushed. The interviewer had trouble with pronunciation, and many questions were hard to understand, even for me as a bilingual person. When I asked her to repeat a question, she rolled her eyes. After she did it a second time, I almost left the interview but decided to finish it anyway. The interview itself wasn't too difficult, but the whole experience felt a bit off. The salary offered was low, and they didn't share much about the clients or the specific duties of the role.
- What salary do you expect?
- Can you tell me about your past job experience?
- Could you describe a situation where you received feedback?
