First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JM Search.
Principal
The interview process was excellent and smooth. I spoke with a good variety of people who were very knowledgeable in their respective fields and gave a great overview of the company and its ethos. It's clear the leadership cares about the business.
- Can you discuss your previous experiences?
Partner
This was a really thorough, fair, and respectful interview. I had a bunch of meetings and conversations, which gave me a good sense of the people and the company culture. The team seems impressive, and their growth story is compelling. They were really transparent when I asked questions. All in all, it was a very positive experience throughout the interview and evaluation.
- Can you share the standard interview questions typically asked by search firms?
Vice President
I met with a number of people, including Partners, Principals and VPs, over a three-week period. The interviews felt very personal and everyone involved was open, helpful, and asked tough questions. Overall, I had a really good experience.
- Can you describe your experience with the search process?
Market Analyst
I interviewed with JM Search for about 10 hours total, meeting with Partners, VPs, and an Analyst. There were 6 interviews, each lasting between an hour and an hour and a half. A 7th interview was scheduled but then rescheduled last minute, and I never heard back. Near the end, I was asked for references on a Friday, but then learned on Monday they hired an internal candidate and didn't even contact my references. The actual interviews were pleasant, but the overall process felt a bit long and unclear. Salary wasn't discussed until the very end, and when I asked about how many more interviews were left, I was often ignored or told there were just a couple more people to meet.
- What are you seeking in your next role, and what is the status of your other job applications?
- Can you describe what you are looking for in your next career move and where you are in the interview process with other companies?
