First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JLG Industries.
Rotational Engineer
First I had a quick call with a college recruiter to see if I was interested and to talk about my resume. Then, the hiring manager interviewed me online using WebEx. It was a pretty typical interview with questions about my experience and education, some "tell me about a time" questions, and questions about my knowledge of engineering principles and technology. It wasn't a super hard technical interview. HR was nice and responsive, but I ended up taking another offer because JLG's wasn't as good.
- Describe a situation where you encountered workplace conflict and how you addressed it.
- Can you share your internship experience at XYZ and highlight skills gained that were not taught in your education?
Design Engineer
A recruiter from JLG reached out in May 2014 to chat about my background and if I'd be a good fit for some openings. I skipped the phone interview and got invited to do on-site interviews in McConnellsburg, PA and Greencastle, PA. It was about a 20-minute drive from my hotel in Chambersburg to the first site in McConnellsburg. Once I got there, I did a plant tour of their Manufacturing facility with another interviewee. The place is huge, so the tour lasted a bit over an hour with some Q&A. Then, I drove 30 minutes to another facility in Greencastle, PA. This part involved a panel interview with 4 engineers, covering typical technical questions and some behavioral ones. After that, I had a quick chat with HR, which I felt was unnecessary. Then I flew back home.
- Can you describe a difficult decision you had to make and how you handled it?
Design Engineer
They covered my travel to the facility in Oreville, OH for the interview. I went through a panel interview where they asked pretty standard questions. After that, I got a quick tour of the manufacturing facility. Finally, I met with the HR rep. I did notice the managers seemed a bit disorganized.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Are there any specific questions about your background or experience that you'd like to discuss?
- Do you have any questions for us about the role or the company?
