Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JFrog.
Product Manager
The interview process was really bad! They have zero respect for the candidate's time or effort. There was a lack of communication between interviews, sometimes disappearing for 2 weeks. There was no sync between the recruiter and coordinator, leading to the coordinator giving unfiltered feedback, and then HR calling a week later about the same topic. They decided on the process after each interview, sometimes announcing another stage and an assignment at the end of an interview. The stages included an HR interview, Manager Interview, Home Assignment, a panel interview, and an Executive interview.
- What's your strategy for managing conflicting requirements from different stakeholders?
Product Manager
I had an HR phone call that was about 20 minutes long. Then, I had a remote interview with the recruiting manager for about 40 minutes. After that, I was given a home assignment which took me 2-3 days to complete. The home assignment involved looking at features on their platform and giving feedback. The final part was an in-person interview with the recruiting manager, which lasted for an hour.
- What advantages does automatic container scanning for known vulnerabilities in the platform offer?
Product Manager
The interview process involved an HR interview, a chat with the Recruiting manager, and a home assignment. My interaction with HR was quite negative. After I asked a question, the HR person didn't have the answer and said someone would call back, but that never happened. A week later, an interview was set up, but then it was canceled after a few days with no contact. At the end, nobody even sent a courtesy email, which was disappointing considering the length of the process. I only got a brief text from the hiring manager. Both HR reps I spoke with were unprofessional, making it seem like JFrog treats recruiting as an entry-level task rather than a profession, and people on the other side deserve respect. The home assignment itself was professional and reasonable, though it was based on JFrog's product. While they claim the work won't be used, it's hard to believe that ideas presented to a panel won't be leveraged later. A better approach would be to use a similar use case from another product or compensate the candidate.
- Can you walk me through your resume and explain your career progression?
- What were your reasons for leaving your past roles?
