So first I had a call with a recruiter, then I was given a take home design challenge. After that, I had a call with a designer and then a follow up call with the company co-founder. They were all very nice to interact with and I thought it was a pretty good process.

My interview process was brief. It started with a 30-minute meeting with a Senior Talent Partner, followed by a take-home design challenge. Usually, designers get to pick a challenge unrelated to the company, but I was asked to redesign the Jerry shopping experience. I put in about 8 hours, creating a prototype, screens, and a write-up. The hiring manager didn't respond to my initial email or follow-up about receiving the assignment. A week later, I got a generic rejection email with no mention of my work or feedback. I'm pretty disappointed and feel it shows a lack of professionalism and consideration from both Jerry and the hiring manager. I'm also curious to see if my free work ends up on the Jerry's app.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The Senior Talent Partner discussed the company and asked if I had any questions about it or the position, instead of asking me specific questions about my background or experience.

I had an intro call with someone from the hiring team. It went well and I got to learn more about the job. But at the very end, they asked me to do a design challenge for a feature related to their app. The hiring person said it wasn't for an existing feature, but the prompt still asked for designs for the app. I didn't move forward but I'd warn other designers to be careful with challenges that are for the app. I've seen this job posted a lot lately.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The Senior Talent Partner took a good amount of time explaining the role and the company's origin story, and I had time at the start to ask questions.
  • The call was short and they didn't ask me many questions.
