First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jelli.
Software Engineer
A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn. After a brief initial call, I had a conversation with the hiring manager about my background. The interviewer then discussed Jelli, its operations, business model, and revenue streams. I expressed my interest in the technology.
- Can you describe your previous experience?
- Could you provide details about Jelli's company, operations, business, and revenue?
Software Engineer
I went through three steps: a call with the recruiter, a live coding interview, and an onsite interview. It was a bit weird that the recruiter wouldn't share the salary range even when I asked a few times. For the live coding part, you have to write some code in a chat window while talking on the phone. The onsite interview was also a bit odd because most of the interviewers were in California, so it was mostly done over Zoom. It was supposed to be five hours long, but it got cut short because of network problems.
- Could you write some SQL queries?
- Can you implement an iterator method for a nested list of strings?
- How would you go about searching for something within a large file?
Software Engineer
The recruiter reached out to me, sent the info I needed, and set up the interviewers. The second interview was the best I've had in over a decade. We discussed alternatives and I explained my fixes. My computer failed to perform on the next round and I have anxiety issues around assessments it was obvious within the first half-hour that I could not think my way through the simplest of problems but the interviews progressed anyway with the sole purpose of leaving me with some nice conversations and a positive experience.
- I was asked the same question with the list of songs mentioned earlier. My brain froze on the next assessment question; after that, we knew I wouldn't be hired. It was a pleasant discussion.
