First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jelli.
Software Engineer
I went through three steps: a call with the recruiter, a live coding interview, and an onsite interview. It was a bit weird that the recruiter wouldn't share the salary range even when I asked a few times. For the live coding part, you have to write some code in a chat window while talking on the phone. The onsite interview was also a bit odd because most of the interviewers were in California, so it was mostly done over Zoom. It was supposed to be five hours long, but it got cut short because of network problems.
- Could you write some SQL queries?
- Can you implement an iterator method for a nested list of strings?
- How would you go about searching for something within a large file?
Customer Success Manager
The interviewer started by giving me an overview of the interview process and what to expect. Then, they asked me a bunch of questions focused on my relevant work history. The conversation was really engaging and thorough, flowing well. Not long after, I was invited to a meet and greet with some other Jelli folks at a local wine bar. This was a chance to chat with key people at Jelli, including the CEO, CTO, and CRO, plus the rest of the team. I was really impressed with everyone I met and their excitement about Jelli's future.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Where do you see yourself in 1-5 years?
Office Manager
I saw the job posting online and also heard about it through a personal contact. I applied via email with my resume. After an initial phone chat, they set up an in-person meeting for the next week. But then, with less than a day's notice, they called it off super late the night before. The automated message said they'd found someone. If they can't even bother to properly let me know they're cancelling, I don't think this place is for me. It really shows how they handle communication and treat people.
- Tell me about your experience with typical office management duties.
- How passionate are you about the work you do in office management?
- Can you describe how you foster a positive environment?
Director of Engineering
The interview process was good. I had a phone interview and then an onsite where I met with the VPE, CEO, CTO, a product designer, an engineering manager & director, and the director of operations. Everyone was nice, asked good questions, and answered mine. Even though I didn't get an offer, I thought highly of the company and the people.
- What are the standard questions for a Director of Engineering role?
