First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JE Compliance Services.
Environmental Scientist
The first step was a strange online interview where they recorded me answering questions. A couple of weeks later, I had an in-person interview. I asked them about their low employment rating and high turnover, which made them uncomfortable. They said it was because employees don't communicate with management. The work environment seemed really lame and not upbeat or friendly. They also gave me a tough test with questions I hadn't seen in ages.
- Could you describe your past work experiences?
Network Administrator
The interview was a HireVue video interview where questions appeared on the screen and I had 3 minutes to answer. The questions were typical for a Network Administrator role. I found it more stressful than an in-person interview because I was self-conscious watching myself, and there was no interviewer feedback. The process was helpful overall because I could see my answers from an interviewer's viewpoint. I think I'd do better in another video interview. A big plus was not having to travel; I did it from my couch in a shirt, tie, and shorts.
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
Web Developer
First you have to do this HireVue thing, which is a total drag, you just talk to your webcam and it records you for HR. Then you meet some people, who honestly didn't seem to know much about IT. After that, there was a written test, but the one I got had some mistakes in it, and when I mentioned it, they just gave me blank looks. Finally, I had an in-person interview with the CEO for a second round. He seemed really cool at the time, though I could hear him yelling at people outside the room sometimes.
- I can't recall the exact questions, but they were pretty standard and not particularly unique.
Environmental Specialist
Applied for the job and then got invited to do an online webcam interview. The questions were standard and required me to talk to myself and answer them. Next, I had an in-person interview. They gave me a test to see what I know, it wasn't graded. Some questions on the test were unclear and tough to answer without more info. Then, the interviewer talked to me about the test and asked more questions about my qualifications, similar to the online interview. Never heard back after that.
- Can you tell me about your educational background?
