I got a call about a week before black friday. I met with the department manager, and she asked me a few questions like "what would you do" scenarios, "tell me about yourself", my "past experience", and "when" I'm "available". I was hired right on the spot! Then there was 1 week of training which felt VERY rushed because of black friday and the holidays. The cashiering training was done on computers in the back. They basically just threw me and the other new employees onto the sales floor and told us to start helping customers.

We had a group interview. Make sure you dress sharp and be ready to talk, relaxed and with some company background info. They asked us questions, and I took my time, often being the last to answer. I wanted to hear others' responses first and then build on them to create my own answer that would be better than everyone else's. After the group questions, about 60% of us were asked to leave the room and then directed to the exit. So, be happy if you're still in the interview room. The job offer came within minutes, along with job terms and training dates.

The application process was super simple. I applied and got a call the very next day. The interview was the day after that. We mostly chatted about my past work experiences before she brought up scheduling my next training session. It was a bit abrupt and confusing in the middle, but she was really nice and seemed genuinely invested, which I later found out was true! The week after, I was already in training.

  • Can you share an instance where you had to manage an angry customer and explain your approach to calm them down?
