It was a really basic interview. The career center can help a lot with it, and the career advisors usually have a good rundown of what the questions might be. It also helps to ask other employees; they spill the beans.

I was asked to come in for an in-person interview. Got some bad parking directions and couldn't find the room, so I was late and out of breath from climbing stairs. Seriously, get there way earlier if you don't know the campus! I walked into a room with four senior people sitting at a big table. They took turns asking me about my art background and my experience for the job. The questions felt random and it was a really bad interview. I was in a rolling chair and it kept moving.

To be interviewed, you have to write a one page essay answering these three questions: 1. What academic, social, and emotional challenges do you foresee as a JMU student? 2. What do you expect to get out of the Centennial Scholars Program? What do you plan to add? And, how do you think it will help your educational goals and plans? 3. Describe your academic strengths and weaknesses as you see them. The actual interview is way harder though, it's always a boardroom with a bunch of grad students and the program director (usually 10+ people) and they ask stuff you might not see coming. Make sure you know details about the program other than just the scholarship money.
