Human Resources Recruiter
They responded really fast, like a few days after I applied online. The first thing was to go to their office. You do this short questionnaire at the front, giving them your resume and references. Then there was a quick 20-min chat about the job and the company. There weren't many interview questions, but they really make you think. I didn't get a callback, probably my fault. They did say that if they wanted another interview, they'd call that afternoon between 4 and 6. The office was pretty nice and the people were friendly. It sounds like a tough recruiting role though, mainly filling sales positions for DirecTV store reps.
- In your opinion, what is the most crucial trait for a manager to possess?
Marketing
I went in for an in person interview and met with the head manager, Jesus. He was a good person who just went over my resume and asked me basic questions regarding it. Later that day, I received a call saying they want to set up a second interview. During the second interview, I was seated next to a lower manager who explained the internship step by step. This internship requires you to set up tables in big stores like Walmart and Best Buy and sell Direct TV members. Later that day, I received a call with an offer. Pretty easy interview, just be yourself!
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Account Manager
I applied online and got contacted the same day via email and text for an interview. I drove 45 minutes to their office for a super quick interview, less than 10 minutes. It felt rushed and they barely asked questions. I figured they cared more about looks and personality since I couldn't ask questions and was told I'd get to if I came back. I was invited back, still kinda confused about what they actually do. The second interview had a 5-minute personality quiz they said was more for my benefit and wouldn't actually be used. It confirmed what I already knew about myself. It started to feel like multi-level marketing, even though it didn't at first. They advertised 'account manager' but it's really selling DirectTV in Walmart. The interviewer, only there 7 months, was vague about pay and benefits. He mentioned $125 per install but wouldn't say what happens if sales targets aren't met. Advancement is based on sales. No gas or wear/tear compensation, just 'work travel' which I think means traveling to different cities on your own dime to sell. They did mention going to conventions on their dime, though. We drove 30 miles and I paid for my own lunch, which was unexpected since I thought the company would cover it since they invited me. It was bad enough driving far for the interview, then driving even further to Walmart. I didn't really know what I'd be doing until the end of the second interview, which was a shock. He did say I'd get paid weekly. It felt like a 'wake up now' situation, so I declined. We went to Walmart after so I could see 'the set up,' which was just a folding table. The sales process involves yelling at Walmart customers to get them to sign a 2-year contract, and you only get paid if the installation happens, not if they cancel before then.

Sales and Marketing Representative
I got there a bit early, and the person at the front desk was really nice. She had me fill out some paperwork, and then I waited until the guy who was interviewing me called me back. He was super direct and seemed kind of rushed. It's been a while since I've interviewed, so I was already a bit nervous, but the pressure was definitely on when he started asking questions because he wanted pretty quick answers.
