First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at J. F. Ahern.
Supply Chain Planner
I applied online and got a call within 48 hours for an HR phone interview. After that, HR called again to schedule my next interview. This one was in person with the HR Business Partner and the team manager, with strict COVID-19 social distancing measures in place. Following that meeting, I was contacted again for a Zoom interview with the Director of Supply Chain. Two days after the third interview, the initial HR rep contacted me again to let me know an offer was coming and that I needed to meet the team. We had a Zoom call where I met the team and manager, introduced myself with some personal and professional background details. I met the team on a Thursday, had a holiday that following Monday, and received the offer that Tuesday. JF Ahern's interview process was very thorough, which I really appreciated.
- When working in a team, do you prefer to be an active participant or work more independently?
Estimator
I applied for the Estimator job at Ahern online. Within two days, HR contacted me to schedule a phone screening, which happened in the next couple of days. On the same day I finished the phone screening, HR also scheduled an in-person interview with the head of estimating, the sales manager, and some other Ahern employees. The day after that in-person interview, Ahern's HR offered me the job.
- This Estimator role can be hectic and unrewarding sometimes due to not winning bids. You might also have multiple estimates going at once in different stages. Can you handle multiple bids and the possibility of not being awarded any?
Supply Chain Planner
After applying, I had an initial HR screen within 7 days. Then, an in-person interview happened within 12 days of the application. The HR screen was pretty casual, more of a 'get to know you' chat. The in-person interview felt comfortable and conversational, but also like a STAR interview.
- What's the most difficult thing you've had to communicate to a vendor?
