Had a call, but then got ghosted. I had the skills they needed and answered their questions well. I also asked some good questions that showed I knew about the job.

HR reached out to set up a Zoom call with herself and a director. The director wanted to see if I was a good fit for the role and if the role was a good fit for me. Then, they scheduled a plant tour and another interview with their chief chemist. This interview was really tough and took the whole hour. They flew me out and paid for everything, but the reimbursement process for the hotel and rental car was a bit of a hassle since I had to pay upfront. The plant tour and in-person interview went well, and I felt I handled the challenges the director mentioned. He said he'd let me know his decision the following week. After waiting 1.5 weeks, I followed up, and HR asked me to wait another week. On the day HR said I'd hear back, I didn't receive any communication. I emailed at 5 PM and immediately got a response saying I was rejected and they were starting over with a new candidate pool. I felt like my time was wasted and I had to chase my own rejection.

Had a 30 min phone call. It was a basic interview with no technical questions. It seems like there were better candidates, and I only heard back 5 weeks later after I reached out.
