Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Itron.
Senior Firmware Engineer
I first got a call from HR after they found my resume on a job portal. The first stage was a phone call. After that, I was invited to their office for in-person interviews. On the same day, I had two technical interview rounds. The HR person was nice and easy to talk to. It made me a bit uneasy when one of the technical interviewers brought up references to my current and previous managers. The interviewers seemed more focused on why I left my past jobs rather than understanding my technical skills. I was pretty disappointed with this because nobody quits a job they are happy with. All in all, it wasn't a great experience. When I asked for feedback on why I wasn't selected, they said I wasn't strong in a specific area, which they barely touched upon during the interview.
- Can you explain the I2C protocol?
- Tell me about the Arm architecture.
- How do you approach unit testing?
Firmware Engineer
First, there was an online coding test, and based on that, I was shortlisted for a technical interview. Then I had two technical interviews, which were pretty average and asked basic questions and about my college projects. Lastly, there was an HR round.
- Can you explain memory layout?
- What are storage classes?
- Tell me about linked lists.
Firmware Engineer
After being referred by someone I know, I got the onsite interview invitation about two weeks after submitting my resume. The whole onsite took about two hours.
- Questions about C programming
- Questions about embedded C
- A question about reading a file in Python
