It was a very straightforward interview process. I really enjoyed it because the team members were very friendly. Staff with a lot of experience provided training. The atmosphere was great. I was well-prepared with my references and ready to talk about my strengths and weaknesses.

I got hired at Islands 6 years ago. I picked up an application and was told to come back Mon-Thurs between 2-4 to talk to a manager. I did that, filled out the app, and talked to a manager who asked a couple of basic questions and said they'd call me. I got a call to schedule an interview with a trainer. She asked me some background questions and was friendly, then scheduled me for another interview with the store manager a few days later. That interview involved more in-depth questions about my experience, why I wanted to work there, and what I could bring to the company. I'm not sure if I got the job offer right away or later, but I did get hired as a hostess. After orientation, I trained with an experienced host for a few days before working on my own. I moved up to backserver and take-out within months, and then to server for the next 5 1/2 years. To become a server, everyone starts as a host and has to work hard, be dedicated, and frequently ask managers about the server test packet.

It was a pretty typical interview process. There were two rounds of interviews, and then I was offered the job. I was actually hired as a host first and had to work my way up to server. Overall, it was your standard interview.
