I talked with the general manager of the location. It was pretty relaxed and informal. They asked me some questions about myself and my experience serving. It seemed like they were mostly trying to gauge my conversational ability rather than asking specific questions about my past positions.

The company asked me to do a video response interview. I had to use my own computer to answer 10 questions, with 2 minutes for each question. They let me practice beforehand. It's been over 2 weeks and I haven't heard back about proceeding, which is concerning because this ghosting thing is a problem. I followed up twice to check my status, but got no response. As a national trainer and hiring manager, I know my candidates usually hear back within 24-72 hours. I'm also noticing a trend of video interviews, which I think is less effective than phone or in-person interviews. I'm a chef and do most of my admin on my phone, but I don't have WiFi at home, and my laptop is old. The whole experience was negative. If someone isn't a fit, companies should just say so. Not responding is bad business and reflects poorly on how they operate.

The interview process was okay until HR only wanted to email to set up an in-person interview. Since I have a busy job already, it was hard to reply fast enough to book an interview. The time that worked for me was gone when I replied and vice-versa. It would have been way better if they called to set it up instead of emailing back and forth. They were nice about it, but my work schedule made it tough and I think the issues could have been avoided if they scheduled by phone. I decided not to continue at that point.

So first there's this really long online questionnaire, like an hour maybe more, which seems kind of pointless. After that, you have an in-person interview. You'll need your ABC card for restaurant work in DE, but they give you 30 days to get it once you start.
