I applied for two roles, Software Engineer and Render Engineer, and they initially said I'd be interviewed for both. But then they pretty much just put me in the Software Engineer track, so I'm not sure why they mentioned both at first. The whole thing took a really long time, over two months, even though there were only three days of actual interviews. It started with a nice chat with HR about my background and experience. Then, there was a video call for a resume and technical screen where we talked about my past projects and jobs, and they asked some typical programming questions along with some C++ specific ones. That interviewer was really nice. After that, it was back-to-back video interviews. The first was a debugging task in Visual Studios where I had to fix code, and the interviewer seemed pretty disengaged. I only got a short break before the next one, which was a more advanced coding interview. This interviewer was very formal. They asked more C++ questions and presented more complex, time-consuming problems to see how I'd approach large-scale programming challenges. In the end, they said my C++ skills were good but I needed to get better at debugging in Visual Studios. They suggested reapplying in 4-6 months after taking some online courses, which felt a bit frustrating since I figured that's something you learn on the job. It made me wonder if they're always hiring because they make good candidates wait so long.

The interview process started with an HR chat, then a 1-hour technical interview, followed by a 2.5-hour session with 2 rounds, and finally a 3-hour final interview with 3 rounds. The process went pretty smoothly. My advice for the gauntlet is to ask for a few minutes to rest before the next round, as I got flustered in the final round due to stress.

I wanted to share some thoughts on how the interviews went. It felt like only one person interviewed me and made the final call. I think it would be better if there were at least two people interviewing, even for the first round. The person who interviewed me seemed a bit new to this and kept showing negative body language, which made me feel pretty awkward. The studio itself and the other staff were really nice, but the interview part could definitely be improved. For a Lead Producer job, it's super important to have a more balanced and professional interview setup. The recruiter experience was great, but I think the overall process needs some tweaking for more senior positions. Just wanted to pass this along.

I applied online and got an email from a recruiter for a phone interview with the design director in December 2019. The interview took about 30 minutes and was enjoyable. The director let me know I wouldn't hear back until January due to the holidays. I sent two follow-ups to the recruiter in January with no response. Since it's now February, I assume they've moved on. The interview itself was great, but HR ghosted me instead of saying I wasn't selected. I suggest asking about a timeline at the end of the interview and moving on if you don't hear back by then.
