Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IRIS Software Group.
Manager
I was interviewed a number of times ending in a final session with an executive team member. There was also an online aptitude test as well. The interviews were drawn out over a very long period, beyond what i would expect to be caused by the normal challenges around arranging diairies. This was inevitably ringing alarm bells in me. I was only ever given positive feedback after each interview, and after the positive feedback from the last interview I was ghosted.
- What motivates you to seek employment with our company?
Manager
The interview experience at the company's office was quite negative. Upon arrival on the third floor, the office door was open, and I entered without a reception area, just open office space. Some staff laughed when they saw me, and no one offered help. I waited outside and used the intercom, but no one answered. I went back in and spoke to someone near the door, who reluctantly took me to the canteen to wait. The kitchen was messy with overflowing bins. I overheard someone in the office say, "someone is here for an interview at this time!?" Finally, the interviewer came, took me to a meeting room, and conducted a standard interview, repeating questions from the phone interview as it seemed no notes were taken. There was no HR involvement. Since it was late, the office was empty when the interview finished around 5:30 pm. It seemed like people just worked contracted hours and didn't go the extra mile, which made me question the company's self-proclaimed importance to the UK economy. I probably should have left when no one answered the intercom. I'm unsure if I got the job, but this environment wasn't for me even before the interview started.
- Tell me about your experience in getting people "on side".
Manager
It started off pretty chill and low-key. The next step was a presentation with some follow-up questions. The first chat gave me a good vibe for the role, and the second round let me build on that.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- What do you consider your biggest strengths and areas for improvement?
- Walk me through a project you managed from inception to completion.
