I spoke with the recruiter first, then the hiring manager. After that, there was a take-home challenge. I then had to present my take-home challenge to a panel. I'm not sure what came next because I withdrew my application after the panel presentation. The questions felt more like they were for a program manager, not an engineering lead.

Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process started with a phone call covering objectives, interests, salary expectations, and general topics. Next, a meeting with the recruiter and sales director delved into substantive, non-technical subjects to gauge compatibility between aspirations. Although initially intimidating, the atmosphere was relaxed, focusing on soft skills and even personal topics like hobbies, fostering a genuine exchange that was a significant plus. A third, technical interview was conducted with a senior technical manager in the target specialization. These discussions were held in a supportive and very interesting manner. Overall, it was one of the best interview sequences experienced. The process can be expedited or prolonged depending on needs.

Technical Coding

The interview process involved a preliminary phone call to clarify the application, followed by a recruiter call to detail the role and check if the candidate fits IPPON. Then, there was a coding test on an internal IPPON platform similar to a coding game, featuring three exercises: one easy, one medium, and one difficult. If the test was successful, a technical interview was conducted with a tech lead or manager to discuss the test results, explain development choices, and learn about IPPON from a technical perspective.

Behavioral Technical Coding

The hiring process was done remotely due to Covid. I heard back pretty fast, in less than 2 weeks after the last interview. I went through 3 interviews that happened quickly one after another: a recruiter/HR chat, a technical interview, and then an interview with the agency director. Before the technical interview, there was a coding challenge. It had 3 exercises to do within an hour. The exercises were pretty similar to what you'd find on Coding Game. They have a presentation video and a practice exercise so you don't get lost, which is good.
