Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IPG Mediabrands.
Intern
The interview process included an initial HR screening call, followed by three back-to-back interviews on a single day with people from different IPG companies. The hiring manager interviews focused heavily on behavioral questions, rather than my interest in the role, my experience, or the company itself. Because of this, the interviews felt quite repetitive.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a challenge on a project and explain how you managed to resolve it?
Intern
It was a really interesting and positive experience. The interviewer made me feel at ease throughout the conversation, creating a comfortable environment. Additionally, they were helpful in answering the questions I was unsure about, which made the whole process much smoother.
- What did you learn or study during your degree and what are you interested in?
Intern
First, there was a phone chat with HR, just basic stuff. Then, a second online interview with the manager, which was easy and quick. The third interview was in person with several team members. They told me they'd let me know something soon. Two weeks passed with no word, so I emailed them. They said they wanted me for the team but internal changes had caused delays. Three weeks later, still no news. In that last interview, they already told me about the job functions, hours, team, etc. I get that internal processes can cause delays, but they could at least keep people informed. Obviously, after this long, I'm not counting on the job anymore. They should at least update people who spend their time on them.
- Tell me about your professional background.
- Why are you looking to switch from a permanent position to this internship?
