The interview process was quick and pleasant, with a friendly chat with the team and good follow-up feedback. It included a technical interview covering basic Java, REST APIs, and ORMs, along with a coding task to check bracket validation in an equation.

I had an interview here about 5 years ago. They asked me some basic questions about REST, delete and put requests, URL params, and then some basic HTML, CSS, and JS. The interviewer was nice and it seemed to go well.

Behavioral Case

I interviewed with the HR manager and the two owners of a privately held business intelligence and data warehousing consultancy that currently has no dedicated marketing staff and relies on freelancers and admin help. The offices were basic, but I was impressed by the people I met. The HR manager was direct and open, and the two owners were refreshing. They mentioned they prefer to keep their names off the website. They seemed like smart, savvy businessmen who run a lean and productive organization. They were upfront that they were interviewing 5 candidates, all of whom they liked. Half the candidates were junior level and half were senior level. They were weighing the pros and cons of hiring a less experienced candidate to save funds for freelance services (graphics and web) versus hiring a more experienced candidate and potentially having less money for contract services. Although I didn't get the job, I suspect they hired a more junior candidate.

Behavioral Technical Case

Typical interview process. Recruiter who is also operations director did the initial screening. Then I interviewed with a partner. He talked about the firm and his experience and then asked me about the highest level I spoke to at my consulting firm. After I answered, he said 'well here we talk to client level right under CIO.' I was thinking about the size difference of our firms and how we talk to different levels of clients. He then went on about how he had all these POCs that wowed clients but he couldn't talk about them. He seemed to think his small firm really cared about clients more than the big firms. The conversation went downhill a bit from there. Afterwards, the recruiter brought me into another office and we chatted, then I left. A few days later, I got an email saying they were still waiting for feedback from the partner interview. Another week passed, and I was assured that the process was just going slower than expected. Another week passed, the recruiter was on vacation. When he returned, he said he would keep asking about next steps. I had already given up by then because I had another offer. This week, seven weeks after the initial interview, I got an email saying sorry I am no longer a candidate. The whole process was lame. The recruiter/Operations Director seemed like a good guy and was stuck in the middle. Might be worth checking out, but it wasn't for me.
