First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Invoca.
Account Manager
I only got through two steps. The recruiter interview was great and she was super enthusiastic and wanted me to speak to the hiring manager ASAP. When I got to the hiring manager, she was absolutely not interested in speaking to me. Didn't make much eye contact over Zoom, didn't engage in any small talk to start the conversation. They are still looking to fill this role months later.
- Can you describe your experience working with a Google vendor in AdWord sales?
Inside Sales Representative
I found Invoca at a job fair and then the hiring manager emailed me for a first phone interview. It was a 30-minute call with the hiring manager, who is the team lead for the role. He didn't expect much sales experience (I had none) but wanted to see that you've achieved things in past jobs, maybe even gone above and beyond, and that you work well with others. He mentioned he hired people based on their positive attitudes. You really need to have researched the company beforehand. One of the first things he asked was if you're comfortable with cold calling. He said it's best to be honest.
- Can you share an example of a time you made a decision as part of a team?
- How do you feel about cold calling?
Sales Development Manager
The interview process at Invoca was thorough. It started with a recruiter call to discuss my background and gauge my research on the company. Then, I had an onsite interview with the hiring manager and other department managers. This included a presentation on specific topics to assess my experience, culture fit, passion for management, and knowledge of Invoca's products. This presentation was designed to identify candidates who were truly committed. The final step was an interview with the SVP of Sales to delve into my leadership abilities and the value I could bring to the company. The entire process was well-prepared, with challenging yet conversational questions.
- Can you share an example of a difficult employee situation you managed and how you resolved it?
Software Engineer
So I had an initial phone call with the recruiter. She really dug into my experience, why I applied, and what I'm looking for. It felt like she was just checking boxes, which made it super awkward with these long pauses after each question and her mumbling "okay, great, perfect." It gives off a really bad vibe when it feels so robotic. What was even worse is she seemed ready to hang up without letting me ask anything. I asked about their product's capabilities, and she had no answers. Realizing she couldn't answer my questions, I decided to end the call. She mentioned the next step would be talking to the hiring manager, who she thought would be interested, and asked for my availability for a video screen. I sent my availability that day. No response. I followed up the next day. Still no response. Two days after the initial call, I got a super generic rejection email. It was a confusing experience.
- When would you be available for the next steps in the interview process?
