It started with a Headhunter, then went to HR, then the Manager, and finally a Colleague. The whole thing was pretty fast and pleasant; the people I talked to were nice and asked some good questions.

It was a pretty standard process. Started with a phone call, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, followed by a video interview, and then an offer. Overall, it wasn't too tough. Things moved a bit slowly between stages, but not as slow as some other places. After getting the offer, I countered, and they accepted my counter offer really quickly, within 15 minutes.

Behavioral Technical

I had an HR phone screen on Thursday, then the hiring manager called Friday. The next Monday I had phone interviews with two different managers. The final round was a face-to-face meeting a week later with the hiring manager, another manager from a different area, and their boss, the area director. I followed up after every step but heard nothing back. I waited a week and followed up with the hiring manager again, still no response. After another week and a half, I reached out to HR and still no reply. Three weeks later, on the same day I submitted my expense report for the travel, I finally got told they chose someone else. It felt really unprofessional given how much they talk about service and standing out. I get not getting the job if someone else was a better fit, but not communicating at all is just basic decency. My advice to Invitae would be to slow down and not get so caught up in growing that they forget the basics. Treat people how you want to be treated. Honestly, the lack of communication and respect makes this a company I wouldn't want to work for. I wish them the best and hope they handle candidate communication better in the future.
