I was found on LinkedIn by a recruiter who asked if I was interested in the position. After I said yes, HR sent me 3 basic questions to answer to move forward in the process. I had a 3-hour phone interview about 4 days later. Two weeks after that, the company paid for me to fly out for an in-person interview with my manager. We mostly talked about my background and how I would interact with clients. I got the offer 10 days after meeting with the manager. The offer and onboarding process was handled by HR and the recruiter, and they used HireRight for the background check, which was a total nightmare. I had to give them all the info myself because they didn't even call my references. They claimed they couldn't verify my old employer, but when I called them, they hadn't been contacted. Invensys HR was also frustrated because it was delaying my start date. Other than that, the rest of the process was easy. I had to go to a main office to fill out paperwork like I-9 and W4 because I travel 75% of the time. HR has a good online system and checklist for submitting everything. The code of conduct and harassment training are online too, with all the links emailed to me. The onboarding was really simple and well done.

The hiring process spanned approximately three months, featuring two interviews and a relatively straightforward test. The interviews were substantial and detail-oriented, involving several interviewers. Despite the friendly and courteous interactions, the company demonstrated a strong commitment to verifying both the candidate's job capabilities and their cultural fit with the existing team. I didn't engage with HR until the offer stage. Invensys HR utilizes several separate online systems for collecting applicant and new employee data, covering recruitment, background checks, and onboarding. The lack of integration between these systems necessitates repeated data entry, which is time-consuming and somewhat frustrating, though not uncommon.

So, it was a pooled campus recruitment day 1. We were in a big hall with around 150 students. The HR gave a 20-min presentation about Invensys India and FOXBORO, covering their clients, divisions, and some stats. Then we took an Aptitude test at 1100 HRS. It had two objective papers, 30 questions each. Paper 1 was General Aptitude (reasoning, data interpretation, quant), which was easy. Paper 2 was an engineering aptitude test, focused on Control Systems and Instrumentation, also straightforward. There was negative marking: 1 mark for correct, -1 for wrong. Results were out by 1830 HRS on the notice board. 25 people were selected and got a phone call. Day 2, we were called to their facility in batches of 5 over two days. Day 2 involved a Group Discussion (20 mins, topics: Education System in India vs Overseas, Women managing Home and Work - it was cordial), a Technical Interview, and then a Personal/HR interview. The HR interview was with a Junior Recruiter and the Director. They asked about family, willingness to move to Chennai, and higher studies plans. The director mentioned I could do higher studies later. They also asked about motivating others, my low aggregate marks, and if I had questions.

First, there was a call interview with HR for screening. Then, a deeper call with HR. Next, 3 to 4 calls with the line manager, their manager, and 3 other employees. After that, a face-to-face interview with HR, the Line Manager, and others. An offer was to be done after a while because they have a long approval process. Then, I moved and joined the work.
