Manager
The recruiter call seemed to go well, but then he brought up the company's 5-day in-office policy, with the option to flex up to 4 days a month. This wasn't clear in the job description, and it's just not possible for me since I live an hour away. It's a bummer because the hiring manager is in a different state and only one team member is in my state. You missed out on a great candidate because of old-fashioned policies. Come on, give people hybrid or remote options, or at least be upfront about your in-office requirements.
- Can you describe your background in development and permitting?
Development Manager
Invenergy got in touch right after I applied, and they were super responsive the whole time. First, there was a 30-minute Teams call with the recruiter to chat about my experience and how I'd fit the job. It was quick and friendly, and I got to ask some questions at the end. Then, I had five 30-minute chats with different VPs and Directors (four from my team, one from elsewhere), with an hour break between them. They told me who I'd be talking to beforehand and the schedule. The schedule changed a bit before the interview, and on the day, they didn't stick to the order exactly, but everyone used their time well and made sure I was good. This second part was a mix of getting to know me, letting me get to know them, and asking about real past experiences and potential future situations. They really seemed to want me to understand the pros and cons of what they do, why it's important to them, and what they like about it. It felt really open, and we even swapped book ideas. It was very transparent and friendly.
- What is your motivation for joining Invenergy?
- How do your qualifications align with this industry?
- What is a future problem that you foresee that others might be overlooking?
Office Manager
The hiring process had a few stages to make sure it was thorough but still easy to go through. It included online and in-person interviews to get a good look at skills and fit. Each part was set up to be fun and friendly, so people would feel comfortable showing what they can do.
- Can you share an instance where you juggled multiple tasks?
