Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Intrexon.
Research Associate
I went through the interview process which took about 2-3 weeks. I got an email to schedule a phone screen, which was pretty easy. After that, I had the main interview, which was alright. They gave me a lab tour at the end, and the lab itself was quite nice.
- Could you solve a serial dilution math problem?
Research Associate
I had a half-day interview. It started with my direct manager, who is a Scientist. He was pretty relaxed, gave me a tour, and we had a nice conversation. I felt like this part really depends on who your manager is and their personality. Then, I interviewed with some colleagues from my department, we chatted and I answered some questions. After that, I had interviews with people from other departments, which felt a bit unnecessary since I don't even work with them now. It felt like a waste of their time, but the interviews themselves were still pretty chill. I guess it varies depending on the role and department.
- Can you describe your experience using particular instruments?
Research Associate
The interview process was pretty standard. It started with two phone interviews, then I received an offer to fly out for an in-person interview. The onsite interview took a couple of hours where I met and interviewed with several people from the group the position was in. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.
