It started with a recruiter phone call, then a phone screen with a developer, and finally an onsite interview at the Boston headquarters that lasted about 2 hours. The onsite included some whiteboarding problems, general questions about my background and past experiences, and some technical questions.

Coding Behavioral Technical System Design
Started with a basic intro phone call, just a meet and greet. Then a code-share phone call where I had to solve some coding challenges in 30 mins or less. After that, they flew me out for an in-person interview. It was 1-on-1 with 3 developers, about 45 mins each. First dev asked me to explain one of my projects and asked probing questions. Then, they gave me an app idea and asked how I'd structure its components. The second dev gave me a database modeling exercise, but it was confusing and took up most of the time because he couldn't explain the app well. The third dev had me whiteboard a couple of easy coding challenges. They said I was perfect on most things but weak on database modeling, so they passed. It felt like they wanted someone way more experienced than an apprentice and were paying apprentice wages. They did cover flight, hotel, Ubers, and meals though, which was nice. Felt like a waste of time with the long waits between stages. I got a Jr. Developer job easily elsewhere, so their expectations for an apprentice seem too high.

I had a phone screening. But it took a lot of time to get that phone screen done because the interviewer was late 3 times. On the first phone screening, she was late about 40 minutes, and didn't send a message to let me know that she was going to be late. So I rescheduled. On the second phone screening, she was late as well, so we rescheduled for 2 hours later to which she was late 10 minutes again. Punctuality is not a value of this company. After talking with her on the phone for 20 minutes, she said she'd let me know be the next they. They didn't even push me through to the next technical round although I've been studying web development for 2 years, and believe this opportunity would have been amazing because of the mentor-style program.
