Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Intertek.
Microbiologist
I had a 2-stage interview process. The first stage involved creating and presenting a presentation about the work they do for clients, specifically concerning MIC in seawater injection systems, along with some general questions like why I'm interested in the role. They also gave an overview of the position and the company. The second stage was a more casual meeting with the team and a tour of the labs.
- Could you start by introducing yourself and elaborating on your motivation for applying to this position?
- Tell us why you applied for this role.
Senior Scientist
The interview had many detailed and some unnecessary questions. They seemed behind on modern technologies and didn't use Microsoft Teams. Despite bringing a lot of experience and knowledge, they made poor offers, although they could easily afford expensive equipment.
- Tell me about your experience with HPLC.
- What is your experience with ESI?
- Can you discuss your knowledge of APCI?
Scientist
It was a pretty chill interview, almost informal. They asked about my ability to fix equipment. The middle managers wanted to know my attitude towards work, especially weird hours, and if I could solve problems. No tests, but we walked around the lab and they asked about instruments, trying to gauge if I could work with them solo based on my past experience.
- Tell me about the sports you played in school and why you stopped playing them.
