Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Internet Brands.
Corporate Recruiter
First there was a phone screen with a recruiter, then an on-site interview. They asked about my previous work history and past compensation. They also wanted to know why I want to be part of a recruitment team. Furthermore they asked about motivational factors, commute, and current career objectives. It was a very straightforward process. Everyone was very friendly and professional throughout the whole process.
- Out of all the qualified candidates, why would you be the best pick?
Corporate Recruiter
I spoke with the recruiter who reached out to me on indeed.com. She was friendly and made a good impression during our second meeting on-site. The total interview time was 2 hours, as I met with two other people after the initial recruiter chat. The interview was going well until I met with the HR Director. He seemed unfocused and his questioning made me uncomfortable. He asked which other companies I was interviewing with and wrote down all of them. His phone kept ringing during the meeting, and he abruptly left when the CEO called him, which he announced before answering. If I hadn't spoken up to thank him for his time, he wouldn't have even said goodbye before walking out. I followed up with a thank you note to the initial recruiter. I haven't heard back, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job.
- Which other companies are you currently interviewing with, and what stage are you at in those processes?
Recruiting Coordinator
It started with a chill phone chat, kind of a warm-up to gauge the vibe. Then, the recruiter associate set up the main interview. The on-site part was pretty long. The questions in the conference room weren't hard, felt more like a casual chat than an interrogation. I spoke with the recruiter, the hiring manager, and the person currently doing the job. Three interviews in one day. But don't assume a long interview means they're super keen. After it was all done, the recruiter said she'd call in 4 days with an update. Spoiler: she never did. Honestly, it's a good thing I didn't hear back, 'cause I landed a gig that's way better with better work-life balance, benefits, and pay.
- How do you distinguish yourself from other candidates?
